How does Dot Go work?

The app uses object detection and recognition technology coupled with information from LiDAR sensors on the phone. The object recognition process is carried out by computer vision models. These models are hosted on our app and they take their input from the phone’s camera. Further, the LiDAR sensors help determine the exact position of the object in space. The app then identifies the object and alerts the user as they approach it. Further, you can customise the response of the app to be more productive.

What data do we collect?

Dot Go collects the following personal data:

  • Your Name
  • Your Apple ID

Additionally, the following data is collected after camera input is processed by object recognition:

  • Objects detected by the app

How do we collect your data?

You directly provide Dot Go with the following:

  • Personal data when you register online to download the app.
  • Access to camera view so that Dot Go can detect objects in sight.

Additional data collected, i.e., the list of objects detected is stored in text format on your device. You can restrict/opt out of this at any time.

How will we use your data?

Dot Go collects your data so that we can:

  • Process your order and manage your account.
  • Email you with an invite link to the application in beta test phase.

If you agree, Dot Go will share information about objects detected with third-party applications. This is done so that you can trigger specific responses for each objects detected. You can restrict/opt-out of this at any time. The following are the third-party applications/services:

  • Shortcuts by Apple
  • AirPlay by Apple

How do we store your data?

Personal data provided by you, i.e., your name and Apple ID are stored on a database that is only accessible to our developers.

Additional data collected by computer vision model, i.e., the information from object detection is stored only on your device in the form of a text file.

Dot Go does not collect or store any images/visual data from the camera.
